Our community

Investing in
education

The Karimjee Jivanjee Foundation is the
philanthropic arm of the Karimjee Group

Since arriving in Tanzania in 1825, the Karimjee Jivanjee family have been carrying out charitable work in the local community.

For seven generations, we have supported causes and organisations that share our values and traditions. The foundation was officially created in 2010 as an important part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. We believe in long term and sustainable action to tackle the social challenges facing the country and its communities.

Supporting young
Tanzanians to follow
their dreams and
aspirations

The main focus of the Foundation is to
invest in education as a means to enhance
the economic development of Tanzania. We
believe that the long-term solution to many
of the country’s challenges lies in better
education for all, and greater support for
young Tanzanians to help them follow their
dreams and aspirations.

Success stories

We have helped many students fulfil their potential and
reach their aspirations by funding and supporting them
to study in some of the world’s best universities. Here are
a few of our success stories.

it will be to do
this as a Karimjee

scholarships for young Tanzanians to study
undergraduate and post graduate studies
at local universities. We offer academic
scholarships, conservation scholarships
and science scholarships, with fifty

Read International

We work with Read International to help
young Tanzanians get access to educational
resources by supplying much needed
textbooks to various schools. This helps
students to learn, fulfil their potential, and
improve their employment prospects in the
future. KJF funding has provided essential
support to Read in the past 5 years: there
have been over 100 fully furnished school
libraries created in 21 regions in Tanzania,
and over 1,537,345 books donated to date.
